This Is What It Looks Like When A School Becomes A Community Hub

Our project Emeryville Center for Community Life (ECCL) has been recognized by Fast Company for its innovative program–a community center that doubles as a secondary school, much like a university campus.  The project has formulated a new type of city/school partnership in which the Emeryville Unified School District and the City of Emeryville work cooperatively to improve access to learning and opportunities for all members of the community.  The article also recognizes the rigorous community engagement process that has enabled the voices of community members to be heard throughout the design process.  ECCL is expected to break ground this summer.
