Liberia Renaissance Education Complex

Instead of focusing on which elementary school is the best, which middle school has the best sports teams, or which high school offers the most innovative college prep courses, Liberians fight a daily battle to find food to feed their families and ways to pay for medical care.  Education is a luxury that most Liberians just do not have.  Children are often sent to local markets to sell items for their families instead of having the opportunity to go to school.

Concordia collaborated with the Big Picture Company (Providence, Rhode Island) to develop a school master plan for underprivileged children in Monrovia, Liberia.  The project was so well received by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that they agreed to support 50 replications of the design throughout the country.  The school gives Liberian children, who would otherwise have no way to get an education, the opportunity of a lifetime.
