Architecture
The City of New Orleans and the New Orleans Police Department are committed to “Community Oriented Policing” and the new 2nd District NOPD Station is a 21st Century manifestation of these policies.

Both floors of the 17,000 square foot station open up to a community plaza that spans the length of the building. The station has gallery walls facing the plaza that are open to the public and accessible to the officers on duty. Steel “branches” frame the courtyard and support a curving roof that relates to the neighboring natatorium that shares the community plaza, small amphitheater, and a large entry green. The exterior materials were selected through a community engagement process with neighbors and members of the NOPD.
