Jefferson Parish President John Young praised the project: "This building represents the future of economic development in Jefferson Parish. Its strategic location inside the Churchill Tech Park underscores the parish’s commitment to growing the high tech and international trade and logistics industries. Its modern design reflects progressive movement and innovative thinking. Its state of the art equipment, expanded space and redundant systems all contribute to a better, more efficient organization."
The Jefferson Economic Development Commission (JEDCO) Headquarters is a center for business development and growth. The project design was developed by splicing a single sacred geometric volume into three separate buildings, housing JEDCO’s administrative and finance offices as well as its Business Innovation Center. These three volumes are linked by a circular roof canopy that opens onto a the circular courtyard filled with vegetation, sculptures, seating, and breakout space.
Sustainable materials are used throughout the interior and exterior of building while a constructed wetland uses native plant species to provide storm water management and reduce flooding. In addition to its energy efficient systems and technological capabilities, the complex features an impressive art collection from some of the area’s most popular artists.
