McMain High School

Architecture
Concordia led the restoration of McMain High School in uptown New Orleans, one of the most distinguished art-deco buildings in the city. The project scope included exterior remediation, a new roof, restored windows, and painting the exterior and outer classrooms.

The color selection and design were inspired by the traditional application of color on art-deco buildings and the colors of the natural Louisiana landscape. The greys and reds were taken from cypress bark, and deep green from the leaves. Stone elements are highlighted in yellow, providing high-contrast shadows in the most detailed elements.
