Sidecar Patio & Oyster Bar

Architecture
The fun and vibrant atmosphere of the Rusty Nail gets an elevated, tropical twist with the addition of Sidecar Patio and Oyster Bar. Concordia designed this new construction, two-story restaurant, bar, and event space around the Rusty Nail’s existing outdoor courtyard and patio. This project site is bounded by the interstate and Calliope St. to the South, warehouses and private residences to the East and North, and parking lots to the West.

Due to the site’s adjacencies to residential neighbors and heavy vehicular traffic noise, visual and acoustic separation from the street was an important factor. The building design is informed by these contextual parameters and by Sidecar’s namesake and specialty: oysters.

Sidecar’s opaque, exterior envelope serves both as an acoustic and visual shell around a lush and active internal pearl, that is Sidecar’s interior courtyard, oyster bar, and wrapping balconies. Sidecar’s design supports intimate celebrations, lush flora, and great views of both the surrounding city blocks and fun-loving patrons in its variety of indoor and outdoor spaces.
