Beginning in 2011, Concordia has worked collaboratively with the United Nations, Notre Dame University, Wirth Development, and Schools for Children of the World to expedite and coordinate planning for post-earthquake recovery in the city of Léogâne, Republic of Haiti. Concordia helped coordinate, lead, and facilitate a weeklong planning workshop, where the project team reached out to residents, organizations, politicians, and many other disconnected groups, to group ongoing relief efforts and create new relationships necessary for consensus on rebuilding Léogâne. Through a continuing dialogue with residents and community officials, an almost two year long planning stalemate is now moving into action.
