As always, the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are filled with immense excitement and anticipation as people reconnect with family and friends whom they may not often see.
At Concordia, we aim to stay connected with each other through a variety of events during the year. Recently, we participated in an office-wide CPR certification classes with the American Heart Association. Everyone felt it was important to be prepared in case of an emergency. We spent the afternoon going through the tests and scenarios required to receive the certification.
Soon after, we traveled up to Poplarville, MS where we spent the day participating in our bi-annual retreat where we engaged in a spirit of connection and honest conversation about our practice and office culture. This retreat focused on past, present, and future goals as Concordia celebrates its 40th anniversary this year!
A big part of our conversation focused on how Concordia can align its practices with the U.S. Surgeon General’s Framework for Workplace Mental Health & Well-Being. The framework consists of five separate, but related categories: Protection From Harm, Connection & Community, Work-Life Harmony, Mattering at Work, and Opportunity for Growth. Everyone provided comments on areas where we are excelling and areas where we could use some work, intending to improve daily as a team. To close the day, we played a few games together before taking a walk around the grounds.
